A decade ago, when I was a kid, I was on my way to a funeral in Italy.
I had just been to the funeral of a friend in Ghana.
It was a big family and the mother of the friend was there.
My brother was with her.
I don’t know if it was just coincidence that my mother was there, but she was there too.
I remember looking at her and seeing her eyes, but I didn’t really look at her face.
I was so confused.
But, that’s when I thought about Africa.
She was from Ghana.
And I didnt know what to think about that.
So, when we were walking back to my parents house, we saw a huge pile of flowers, and I had no idea where they came from.
They were so beautiful.
But I knew it had to be Africa, because we have African flowers, too.
And it was the first time I ever saw African flowers in my life.
And, when that first experience happened to me, I wanted to do something about it.
So I started to think of ways that African flowers could help African families.
And so, I started my own collection.
Its called orphanages in Africa.
And they are very much alive.
The idea of orphanages is really new.
And a lot of people didnT realize that there were orphanages back in the 1960s.
It is a big, huge idea.
And this idea of a family in Africa is actually quite a big idea, and we want to continue to push that.
And orphanages were a big part of that.
We were very early on in the process, so we didnts have any formal training to be able to run these facilities.
But we started to see that there was a need, and this was just one more way that African families could connect to their African roots.
And weve continued to build orphanages ever since.
And because orphanages have grown in popularity, they also have grown very expensive.
So if you want to get an orphanage, youre looking at thousands of dollars.
So this is a huge challenge.
And you need to be creative and do a lot with money.
We also do lots of fundraising through events.
And these events have become quite a bit more mainstream, with lots of people doing things for people.
And now, there is also a whole lot of tourism.
There are so many things happening right now in Africa that are happening all over the world.
And the whole idea is that when you go to Africa, you want your children to know about the people who live there, and that your kids will have that same connection to those people.
So were very passionate about helping African families, and to be honest, its a challenge because orphanage programs are not the only thing that we do.
Were also very passionate to work with the businesses and organizations in Africa, and give back.
We help with everything from building the schools to setting up orphanages. And thats why well continue to do this.
And there is a lot more to do, as well.
We need to continue doing programs in schools.
We have a program in Ghana now called the Ghana Youth Entrepreneurship Academy, which is a very important program.
It connects kids to the people that are running these businesses.
So thatll be something wem going to be doing again.
We will continue to work to help orphanages grow and to support orphanages to grow and grow.
We just have to keep pushing.
We want to keep doing that.
Thank you for your time, and please keep supporting orphanages, orphanages and communities.
We hope you have a wonderful holiday and enjoy your holidays.
The family is always with you.
Thank You, Kaitlin.
